39th Big Cormorant Classic Cup Fall Tournament (Thursday, September 17, 2026)

This will be our 39th Big Cormorant Fall Classic Tournament. We will conduct a hybrid tournament using a catch, record, release format of 2 walleyes 20" or longer using FishDonkey and adding a live weigh-in of 4 walleyes under 20"!

Entry Fees:

$250 Early bird registration (within 2 weeks of the FishDonkey Announcement)

$300 Normal registration

$350 Late registration (within 2 weeks of tournament)

You can have 2 anglers in the boat. Any person under 16 years of age must be teamed with a parent or guardian. However, two minors may enter with an adult boat operator, like the Student Angler Organization team format. Tournament capped at 60 teams.

Angler Contingency Programs (Ranger, Nitro, Triton) are tentative pending applications.

Side pot of 2x entry fee ($600) for the top placing team without forward facing sonar. This payout could grow if there are sponsors willing to contribute.

We will have an in-person rules meeting and an in-person award ceremony. Details can be found on FishDonkey.

Join us for our fall club outing on beautiful Lake of the Woods and Rainy River! This is a FM Walleyes Members Exclusive Event.

Our host is River Bend Resort who is perfectly positioned along the Rainy River, right before it enters Lake of the Woods! The Rainy River is known as one of the most prolific fish migration funnels in the country. Ensuring great opportunities to catch substantial numbers of walleye and sauger during their migration runs.

This is a fun weekend to fish a destination loaded with fishing options. You will meet some great anglers, be given helpful tips for a better day on the water, and have options to follow experienced anglers on the water.

The package for this event offers meals, which includes a plated dinner on both Friday and Saturday nights along with a breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday mornings and accommodations, covering lodging for both Friday and Saturday nights. We will require a deposit of $50 per individual upon reservation and refundable if we are able to fill the cabin reserved.

Fish as long as you want then head for home.

We will use FishDonkey to run a contest for our traveling trophy. More on this later.

Early check in or late departure must be approved by Dave Wasness and/or River Bend Resort. If anyone would like to add to their fall fishing adventure, by arriving early or staying later, they are more than welcome to do so. The additional lodging rate per night will be $67.50 per person, plus tax.

Rummage Sale/Members Meeting - October Speaker TBD (Thursday, October 15, 2026)

Rummage Sale. Find all kinds of new and gently used fishing gear. Ice houses, ice augers, ice rods, reels, tackle, etc. Other fishing, hunting, and outdoor gear welcome.

Members can reserve a table at no cost. Nonmembers can reserve a table for $20.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the rummage sale. Meeting starts at 7:00.

FMWU - Youth Fishing Seminar, Activity, and Demonstration (Tuesday, December 01, 2026)

All youth education classes are free and open to interested public.

Bring the kids to learn about ice safety, ice fishing, complete a fishing activity, and watch as Dave Wasness jumps into the pool to demonstrate how a Striker float assist suit works to keep you safe while ice fishing.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. Event concludes prior to the membership meeting at 6:45 p.m. Adult participation is encouraged.
