Devils Lake Angler Young Angler Fishing Tournament

Creating Miles of Smiles!

The Devils Lake Angler Young Angler Tournament is hosted jointly by the Lake Region Anglers Association of Devils Lake and FM Walleyes Unlimited of Fargo/Moorhead during the first weekend after the 4th of July each year. This event was first held in 2008 and has become a staple of the summer tournament schedule. Following Angler Young Angler format, the event brings 40 teams of one adult and two young anglers 17 years old or younger to compete in a one day walleye tournament held on Devils Lake, ND.

The mission of AYA is to provide teams with the excitement of a real walleye tournament, while focusing on the young anglers' experience and promoting the sport of fishing and a fondness for the outdoors. Festivities will kick-off Friday evening with a family picnic and a rules meeting. Saturday’s tournament begins with boat inspection and valet trailer parking when launching your boat. At the end of the fishing day, teams are escorted to the weigh-in where each team is interviewed live and on-stage about the events of the day. This is a competitive event and every team has a story to tell about their day on the water. Following a group photo, awards are presented. The winning team will take home a brand new Lund A12 boat, Mercury motor and ShoreLand'r trailer! Other awards include plaques for the top ten placing teams, plus every team goes home with a great prize package, regardless of their finish in the standings.

This event would not be possible without the support of generous sponsors and amazing volunteers, so please take a moment to thank them for their support in making this youth-focused event possible!

Sincerely,
Kyle Agre, Andrew Shae & Jay Hagen
